Platinum Eco Vadis award

Platinum prestige for Galpeg

Galpeg is celebrating after being awarded Platinum Status by EcoVadis, the world’s largest and most trusted independent provider of business sustainability ratings.

The accolade means that Galpeg now ranks in the top 1% of the 75,000 companies rated worldwide each year by EcoVadis.

EcoVadis has become a long-established partner for more than 200 global multinational companies including L’Oréal, Coca Cola Enterprises, Nestle, Pernod Ricard and Johnson and Johnson.

Len DeCandia, Global Chief Procurement Officer at Johnson & Johnson, explained: “By partnering with our suppliers, we can strengthen the social, environmental and economic performance of our supply chain. EcoVadis helps us to map our supplier conformance to Johnson & Johnson responsibility standards.”

Galpeg has already enjoyed gold status since 2015, and Platinum is the highest medal of recognition that EcoVadis awards. To gain it, Galpeg was assessed on a comprehensive range of criteria across four key ‘pillars’ – environment, labour and human rights, sustainable procurement, and ethics.

EcoVadis’s methodology is built on international sustainability standards, including the Global Reporting Initiative, the United Nations Global Compact and the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

Theo Bell, Galpeg’s Sustainability Project Lead, commented: “Like our customers, we care deeply about where the products we supply come from; that they conform to internationally recognised standards, are sustainable wherever possible, and are produced ethically and safely, with awareness of both the environment and fair treatment of workers.

“We are continuously working on improving how we affect both people and the environment, and we manage our business using what we call a ‘triple bottom line’ – people, planet and profit.

“When we submitted our latest EcoVadis assessment, we set out ambitions plans and targets. Our Platinum status recognises our continuous improvements across the business and supply chain, and the fact that sustainability principles feature in everything we do.”

Galpeg MD Paul Green added: “Encouraging sustainable operations across the entire value chain has been a key part of our corporate strategy for many years. I’m delighted that we have been awarded Platinum accreditation by EcoVadis, which recognises our work in reducing environmental impact across our entire business.”
